ABSTRACT

Surgical site infections (SSI) are the most common nosocomial infection and frequently cause morbidity and mortality among inpatients of hospitals. The aim is the analysis of the risk factors for Surgical Site Infections. Methods: In this study, 100 surgically operated cases were taken with age group between 15-60 years. Study was done in surgery department of District Hospital Sikar from January 2015 to December 2015. All cases were registered fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Results: Out of 100, 20 patients had surgical site infection. The SSI rate was 1% in clean surgeries, 9% in clean contaminated ones, 30% in contaminated ones and 60% in dirty surgeries. The SSI rate was significantly less in patients who received pre-operative antibiotic prophylaxis. Most common organism involved was staphylococcus aureus. Conclusion: The incidence of SSI is high in our setup. Elderly age group, diabetic, immunocompromised have more chances to have SSI than others.

ABSTRACT

Background: Aim and Objectives: To distinguish the efficacy of percutaneous catheter drainage (PCD) approaches in the management of hepatic abscess. Methods: In this study, 60 cases of liver abscess were taken with age group between 25-60 years. Study was done in surgery department of government hospital Sikar from October 2014 to September 2016. All cases were registered satisfied the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Group A was given conservative treatment and Group B was given percutaneous catheter drainage. Results were analyzed statistically. Results: ‘it was revealed in this study that mostly males were there, 55 out of 60 cases. The most frequent complaint was abdominal pain and tenderness in right hypochondrium in 85% of the cases. The average hospital stay for patients in group B was 5 days as compared to 7 days in group A. Pain relieved in just 4 days in group B as compared to group A, it was 6 days. Conclusions: Percutaneous catheter drainage is a successful option of treatment in hepatic abscess as compared to conservative management.

ABSTRACT

Background: Fournier's gangrene is an idiopathic gangrene ofscrotum. The purpose of this study was to monitor the surgicaloutcome of the condition.Materials and Methods: In our study, 45 cases of Fournier'sgangrene were included. Study was done in surgerydepartment of Government Hospital Sikar from January 2014to December 2016. Thorough examination, investigations andsurgeries were performed. Our study group included onlymales.Results: The average age group was 54 years. Most commonrelated condition was diabetes. Five patients were treated withantibiotics and other 40 patients treated by surgicaldebridement followed by course of antibiotics. Fifteen patientsrequired skin grafting. All patients recovered after surgery.Average hospital stay was twenty days. No mortality was there.Conclusions: All the cases of Fournier's gangrene respondedexcellent to treatment.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Breast lump is commonly the presentingcomplaint. A dynamic physiological alter in female breastmakes it prone to diverse diseases, lump being the commonone. Transformation in the breast continue throughout the lifeso no age group is bar from the breast disorders. These lumpshave two main causes: benign and malignant breast disease.Materials and Methods: The study comprise of 70 cases ofbreast lump was assume at government hospital Sikar.Methods for evaluation of breast lump were anamnesis andphysical examination, which was supplement with radiologicalinvestigations. Finally a tissue diagnosis was obtained withFine needle aspiration cytology.Results: More than 70% of patients with menopause betweenage group of 45 - 49 years, 50% of Ca breast patients attaintheir menopause more than 7 years, whereas only 2 patientswith benign lumps were menopausal and both of thempresented after 7 years of menopause. Positive family historywas noted in around 15% and around 11% of patients ofmalignancy and benign lumps respectively.Conclusion: Benign breast lumps are more frequent thanmalignant ones. Benign lump was more frequent in 21-30years age group whereas Carcinoma in 41-50 years agegroup. Breast cancer occurs at younger age as compared towomen in west with more than 70% of patients being below 50years of age.
